It is usually characterized by (though not limited to) some combination of infant-like physical traits, especially small body size with a disproportionately large head, large eyes, a small nose, dimples, and round and softer body features.

Personally, I don't think of Asian men as cute generally. Some are (like Takahiro of the group Exile), but most Asian men to me look very Samurai-ish, like Ken Watanabe's character in The Last Samurai, or something. I don't think of Japanese men as being plump, or childlike in their appearance.

But in the states, people might call Asian-"kei" men cute based on some famous actors, like Jackie Chen, or Masi Oka (of Heroes fame). These men have cute mannerisms; comical facial expressions that people would call cute.

Do women in the states call you cute? It isn't a put-down. Granted, it isn't as nice as being called handsome, but it's better than the Japanese 'owarai' custom of calling someone "busaiku." I'm afraid I fall into that category, and it isn't any fun at all.

Hi Sal,

I appreciate your honest opinion. I understand how you think about Asian men. I am surprised that you are familiar with Asian actors.

Well, Japanese men look like Masi Oka rather than Ken Watanabe, right? Don't you agree? That's OK. I wish my face was Ken Watanabe. But in the reality, my face is like Masi Oka.

I don't say Japanese men are plump or childlike. I mean, Asian people have more round features than Caucasians. That's why I think Asian people look more cute than Caucasian.

No. Women in the states never call me cute. Even in that case, it's better than "busaiku," and I think you do not fall into that category.
